My pool reopened;
I passed the lesbian in the lobby
Who has gone from openly barring
My entrance to the pool
To hideous ignore(ment).
It’s ugly the way she avoids me.
I rowed
Using the machine
Alone.
No one biking or
Running behind
Me.
I swam with several people
All much older
Who all seemed relieved
Grateful the pool was now available.
In the shower I thought
Of an imaginary
and
Rather unpleasant conversation
With another woman.
(Does anyone imagine positive conversations?)
In the heated discussion
She wasn’t “getting” me
So I said:
I want to move mountains;
You want to point at them and scream “There they are!”
You want to point at them and scream there they are.
It was at that moment
I realized
I was in your power.
And as time went by
the water
finally
stopped.
