Embarrass Me

You let me wear a woman’s hat and it didn’t bother you in the least.
You let me hike that half-cliff when I left you on the beach.
I didn’t know my way back;
The light was only sparse
Embarrass me, then let me feel your touch.

I think you know the meaning of my long term absence from
The movies and the sidewalks
Where we danced right through the park.
The smiles and the pizza
When we said nothing and such;
Embarrass me, then let me feel your touch.

When they ask you how you’re doing
I hope you give it thought.
When they ask you if you miss him
I hope you don’t think of it much.
Winding toward the image of you
As you fall asleep.
Embarrass me, and hope that you wake up.

I’ll sing about your praises
When they ask me what went wrong.
I’ll hope to God he translates
All the symbols you give off.
I’d put my hand in fire
If I thought it bring you back.
Embarrass me, I’ll hold my breath,
Embarrass me, till bones are left,
Embarrass me, then let me feel your touch.
